The Jugla neighborhood has a long history and a magical atmosphere that people have appreciated for decades. 18. In the middle of the century, on the shores of Lake Jugla, a suburban summer residence was built in the finest Baroque tradition—Gravenheide Manor. It belonged to Ernst Heidefogel (Heydevogel, 1723–1788), a merchant, elder of the Great Guild, senior member of the Blackheads, and commander—or captain—of the Blue Guard.

Open-Air Museum
Across from Lake Jugla is a unique museum that is one of the oldest and largest open-air museums in Europe—the museum’s first exhibition opened its doors to visitors as early as 1932.
Riga Motor Museum
The largest museum of vintage cars in the Baltic States, founded in 1989 on the initiative of the Latvian Antique Car Club. The museum is located in the eastern part of Riga, in Mežciems, right on the border of the Jugla district.

Flowing through the capital’s main transportation artery, Jugla is characterized by extensive mobility options. It is the first and last stop in Riga where all intercity buses heading toward Vidzeme make a stop.
